Send the pension in cash by postal order

Have you decided that you no longer want your pension to go to your bank account? Do you prefer to receive your pension in cash by postal order? You can request this change for any reason by simple request.

How should I proceed?

1. Write an informal application (letter) asking to have your pension sent in cash to your address by postal order. Don’t forget to state your exact residential address in the application.

2. Send the signed application:
   • to the Social Insurance Agency headquarters (Sociálna poisťovňa, ústredie, Ul. 29. augusta č. 8, 813 63 Bratislava 1); or
   • via your electronic mailbox if you have activated it and you use an electronic citizen’s identity card – eID (you can find more information at the Central Government Portal slovensko.sk)
3. Wait for the Social Insurance Agency’s written notification of the change made. 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

If you received a pension to a bank account you are about to close before you submit your application, do not remove it before you receive a notification of payment of the pension in cash by postal order from the Social Insurance Agency. Otherwise, payment of the pension may be interrupted. 

How long does it take for the Social Insurance Agency to pay my pension in cash by postal order?

A maximum of three months, but these should be calculated from the date of the pension payment following the calendar month in which the application was received by the Social Insurance Agency. This means that if your application was received by the Social Insurance Agency on, for example, 10^th January and your pension payment date is the 20^th of the month, you will have your pension paid into your new account no later than 20^th April of that year.
