Apply to have your pension transferred to a special beneficiary

Are you in a situation where you cannot collect your pension at the post office for health reasons, but you also do not want it paid into a bank account? Apply to appoint a special beneficiary. A special beneficiary can be a natural person or a legal entity that could receive your pension. Your son/daughter or another person will then be able to receive your pension for you.

How should I proceed?

1

Consult a doctor, who will issue a certificate attesting your state of health for you.

The certificate should include your identification details, as well as a statement that you are unable to collect your pension yourself due to your unfavourable health condition.

2

Carefully consider who you appoint

as your special beneficiary

3

Ask the Social Insurance Agency to transfer your pension to the special beneficiary

You can do so:

  • orally – entered to a protocol at a Social Insurance Agency branch; or
  • in writing to the address of the Social Insurance Agency headqaurters (Sociálna poisťovňa, ústredie, Ul. 29. augusta č. 8, 813 63 Bratislava 1); or
  • via your electronic mailbox if you have activated it and you use an electronic citizen’s identity card – eID (you can find more information at the Central Government Portal slovensko.sk)
4

Your application must include:

  • the date;
  • your identification data;
  • the written consent and handwritten signature of both you and the person you wish to appoint as the special beneficiary;
  • a medical certificate.
5

The written application may be made on your behalf by

the person you want to appoint as the special beneficiary.

6

The Social Insurance Agency will assess whether the necessary conditions are met

and appoint the specific beneficiary or reject the application by decision.

If you are unable to sign for health reasons or are unable to visit a Social Insurance Agency branch in person, your general practitioner will also mention this on the certificate. However, a medical certificate does not replace your consent to the appointment of the special beneficiary. Therefore, contact the Social Insurance Agency branch by telephone and agree on the next steps.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Obsah

A special beneficiary may not be appointed for a person who lacks legal capacity, as such a person is incapable of consenting to the appointment of a special beneficiary.

Can I have my pension sent to the special beneficiary’s bank account?

Yes, the pension can be transferred to the account of a special beneficiary. The request to transfer the pension to the account of a special beneficiary must also contain a valid document proving the bank account number to which the pension is to be transferred and the fact that the special beneficiary is the owner of the mentioned account.
