Notify withdrawal from studies or interruption of studies

Are you receiving an orphan’s pension? Have you withdrawn from or decided to interrupt your studies? Your entitlement to an orphan’s pension thereby ceases. You are, therefore, obliged to notify the Social Insurance Agency of this fact.

How do I notify withdrawal from studies/interruption of studies?

Withdrawal from studies or interruption of studies should be notified:

  • in person at a Social Insurance Agency branch by presenting a certificate of withdrawal from studies/interruption of studies; or
  • by letter addressed to the Social Insurance Agency head office (Sociálna poisťovňa, ústredie, Ul. 29. augusta č. 8, 813 63 Bratislava 1); or
  • via your electronic mailbox if you have activated it and you use an electronic citizen’s identity card – eID (you can find more information at the Central Government Portal slovensko.sk).

The Social Insurance Agency will then send you a written decision of suspension of payment of the orphan’s pension.

By when should the withdrawal from studies/interruption of studies be notified?

You are obliged to notify the Social Insurance Agency of your withdrawal from studies/interruption of studies within eight days.

What happens if I don't notify the withdrawal/interruption?

In such case, you will be obliged to reimburse the amounts of the orphan’s pension paid to you by the Social Insurance Agency for the period in which you were no longer a student. The Social Insurance Agency will learn about your withdrawal from studies/interruption of studies from the Ministry of Education’s register with a delay of one month.
