If you start employing any person – that is, even an employee who is not a national of the Slovak Republic, you are obliged to register them in the register of insurees and old age pension savers administered by the Social Insurance Agency.
You register all employees using the Natural Person Registration Form (RFLO) – Application form in which the birth number of the employee, which serves as the social security identification number, must be provided.
In the case of a foreigner who is working in the Slovak Republic for the first time (does not have a birth number or a social security identification number), the employer can send to the relevant branch of the Social Insurance Agency a Natural Person Registration Form - application electronically via eServices or in paper form. If the employer submits the Natural Person Registration Form in paper form, the branch will generate a social security identification number for them for social insurance purposes. Before sending the form in question electronically via eServices, the employer will send the data of the foreign employee to the branch, in particular the name, surname and date of birth, via secure communication or an electronic mailbox. The branch will generate a social security identification number for this employee for social insurance purposes, which will be then sent to the employer via secure communication or an electronic mailbox. The employer will subsequently send the RLFO - application with completed data, including the social security identification number, to the branch electronically via eServices.
